The Theatre of Silence

The Theatre of Silence

In the main conception, Tuscany is a land crowded with medieval villages, not interrupted hills, romantic churches, woods.

But beyond these first images that come to mind a very different Tuscany exists and just few kilometers outside the most famous tourist routes.

From San Gimignano, riding the way leading to the sea, in the direction of Volterra, in fact, you will cross open spaces of unique beauty, the color of which changes according to the type of cultivation and the season.

And here, in Lajatico, Pisa inland, only thirty minutes from San Gimignano, the opera singer Andrea Bocelli has built his Theatre of Silence.

And just the silence, in fact, inhabits this place throughout the year, except to come to life, in August, for the concert with international stars that the singer held annually.

Inside the park, an amphitheater bordered by the Tuscan hills offers a significant glance, thanks to the striking sculpture by Igor Mitoraj on the water artificial. The park is open all year round and can be freely visited.
